Sodium sulfonates are primary emulsifiers for use in soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids for metal cutting, drawing and grinding operations. They provide emulsification properties and corrosion inhibition. We have a wide variety of products based on molecular weights and active content
Sodium sulfonates in soluble oils metalworking fluids for metal cutting, drawing and grinding operations. It is an excellent emulsifier for naphthenic and paraffinic oils and has the added benefit of not containing sulfur, which typically acts as a food source for bacteria.
✔ | Sodium sulfonates provide excellent emulsions quality and corrosion resistance. GL1649L low molecular weight sulfonates provide excellent emulsion performance, while the GL1649H high molecular weight sulfonates provide an unsurpassed rust preventive coating. |
✔ | Depending on the application, the balance of these two properties is critical for performance in any market. In the oilfield, drilling and mining markets, which are less concerned with rust prevention, the strong emulsifier GL1649L is preferred. |
✔ | In the industrial oils market, where rust prevention is a large concern, the corrosion prevention of the GL1649H is commonly specified in rust preventive oil. |
✔ | In the metalworking industry, a balance of both the emulsion and corrosion performances is critical to a successful formulation. Here the market prefers the balanced emulsion and corrosion resistance of GL1649M |
GL6411 is a high molecular neutral calcium sulfonate. The increased oil solubility of the organic portion of this sulfonate enables the product to provide rust protection and acts as dispersant for graphite and molybdenum disulfide. It can be used as an additive in lubricating oils, greases, rust inhibition, antiwear and hydraulic fluids. GL6411 is soluble in napthanic, paraffinic oils and all solvents.
GL6413 is a high molecular 30 TBN calcium sulfonate. The increased oil solubility of the organic portion of this sulfonate enables the product to provide rust protection and acts as dispersant for graphite and molybdenum disulfide. It can be used as an additive in lubricating oils, greases, rust inhibition, antiwear and hydraulic fluids.
GL6413 is a 300 TBN overbased calcium sulfonate. GL6417 is a general purpose overbased calcium sulfonate typically used as a detergent and rust inhibitor in crankcase lubricants. The applications include automotive, diesel, marine, railroad and stationary diesel lubricants. GL6417 is compatible with most mineral base oils, white oils, and synthetic base stocks.
GL6419 is a general purpose overbased calcium sulfonate typically used as a detergent and rust inhibitor in crankcase lubricants. Applications include automotive, diesel, marine, railroad and stationary diesel lubricants. GL6419 is compatible with most mineral base oils, white oils, and synthetic base stocks.
GL 8142 is a high molecular weight, oil soluble, neutral barium sulfonate. It is recommended for formulations where acid absorption is a potential requirement along with a high level of rust protection. It has excellent inherent demulsibilty characteristics which provides high levels of corrosion inhibition, along with detergency, in formulating industrial lubricating oils, greases, hydraulic fluids, slushing oils, and other engineered protective products. Nominal dosages would range from 0.1 to 5.0 wt. % of the finished lubricant. GL 8142 is compatible with most mineral base oils, white oils, and synthetic base stocks.
GL4444 is a 400 TBN overbased magnesium sulfonate detergent and anti-rust additive. GL 4444 is containing 9.4 wt. % magnesium. This product is a completely oil soluble, clear brown colored liquid with good stability in the presence of water. GL 4444 overbased magnesium sulfonate will form high melting point compounds with vanadium during combustion, therefore reducing corrosion and sulfur trioxide formation.
GL4481 is typically used as a detergent and rust inhibitor in crankcase lubricants. GL4481 is compatible with most mineral base oils, white oils, and synthetic base stocks.
GL4446 is a highly overbased magnesium sulfonate fuel oil additive with an average particle size of 0.06 microns containing 11 wt. % magnesium. This product is a completely oil soluble, clear brown colored liquid with good stability in the presence of water. GL4446 overbased magnesium sulfonate will form high melting point compounds with vanadium during combustion, therefore reducing corrosion and sulfur trioxide formation. GL4446 can be directly added to fuel oil or injected into the fuel line. The dosage Recommended for gas turbine applications is three parts magnesium to one part vanadium.
